West Ham next manager: Karren Brady pushes for amazing Lopetegui replacement

Karren Brady is pushing for West Ham United to appoint Graham Potter to succeed Julen Lopetegui, according to TBR Football.

The news outlet reported on Tuesday (7 January) that the Hammers vice-chair is leading the charge for Potter – who has close ties with her husband – to arrive in East London.

Despite reports claiming a decision is yet to be made on Lopetegui’s future in East London, The Times reported on Monday evening (6 January) that the former Brighton and Chelsea boss has been offered the head coach role until the end of the season.

Karren Brady wants Graham Potter at West Ham United

The 49-year-old has been out of work since his Chelsea dismissal in April 2023 after only seven months in charge, but his name continues to appear alongside the biggest potential vacancies in the Premier League.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery dubbed Potter “amazing” for his work at Brighton following his switch to West London and expected him to continue his success in the capital [The Independent, March 2023].

However, what panned out for Potter could not have been further from Emery’s prediction, and he left the Premier League with his tail between his legs.

Nevertheless, Potter appears to be the man for West Ham should Lopetegui’s dismissal become official – he has already been spotted in East London.

The Hammers desperately need someone to steady the ship at the London Stadium – only a seven-point gap exits with the bottom three as they flirt with a relegation battle, and Potter’s work with Brighton was exemplary.

For now, Lopetegui remains in his role and is set to stay in charge for the FA Cup third-round tie against Aston Villa on Friday (10 January), but there is no smoke without fire, and the fire is burning the house down for the Spaniard.

In other West Ham news, Tim Steidten could follow Julen Lopetegui out the door at the Irons.
