West Ham news round-up: Jarrod Bowen exit possible as teammate wanted in ‘dream’ transfer

West Ham United hit form at just the right time heading into the two-week international break.

In what had been a dire campaign for West Ham up until that point, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have defeated Newcastle United and Burnley in back-to-back home games.

While the Irons may still remain in the relegation zone, they are now level on points with Burnley in 17th place.

At the start of the final international break of the year, West Ham Zone rounds up all the latest goings on at the London Stadium.

Andy Irving to be a relieved man as announcement relayed by West Ham

Andy Irving has been called up to Scotland’s squad for their crucial World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Greece and Denmark.

The West Ham midfielder has only been capped once by Scotland, and he was left out of Steve Clarke’s initial squad for the November fixtures.

However, injuries mean Irving has now been called up, meaning he still has a chance of being part of the Scotland squad for next year’s World Cup should Scotland qualify.

Irving has struggled to make any sort of impact since joining West Ham last summer.

Tim Sherwood makes new West Ham fan admission after win vs Burnley

West Ham fans have staged protests for the past two home matches, with as many as 10,000 reported to have taken part this weekend.

That has not stopped supporters inside the London Stadium from getting fully behind their team, however, with West Ham’s players responding with two vital home wins.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Monday, Tim Sherwood praised West Ham supporters for backing the players on the pitch.

“I have to say, the last two home wins they’ve had, the atmosphere has been okay – no complaints there,” Sherwood said.

Yes they’ve had protests, which they’re entitled to, but they’ve also got behind the team. They’ve got something to support at the moment.

They’ve got a centre-forward who can score in Callum Wilson, which helps. The fans want attacking football.

Jarrod Bowen exit at West Ham now inevitable if what Joe Cole’s said is true

Jarrod Bowen has played a big part in West Ham’s turnaround in form, but that will inevitably bring transfer rumours with it.

The England international remains West Ham’s best player, but there are fears the Irons will be unable to persuade him to stay on any longer beyond this season if offers arrive – as they will.

And Joe Cole believes Bowen will want to join a team that is regularly competing in the Champions League, which it goes without saying is not something West Ham can realistically offer.

You have a finite amount of time in the game. When Jarrod’s head hits the pillow every night he needs to know whether he can play Champions League or for England regularly,” Bowen said.

Guido Rodriguez is manager’s ‘dream target’

Guido Rodriguez could be on his way to Argentina with heavyweight club River Plate.

Reports from South America suggest Rodriguez is now the “dream signing” for River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo.

Rodriguez is believed to want to leave the London Stadium in 2026, with January the earliest possible chance he has of doing so.

The 30-cap Argentina international started his career with River Plate in his homeland.
