West Ham United: Alan Pardew raises Eddie Howe point in David Moyes sack verdict
Alan Pardew has once again defended the work David Moyes is doing at West Ham on the back of Sunday’s (March 10) draw with Burnley.
The Irons battled back from two goals down against their lowly Premier League opponents to rescue a point at London Stadium.
While debate regarding Moyes’ future rages on, ex-boss Pardew was quick to point out how the Scotsman is outperforming some bigger names.
“Take your emotional cap away and put the professional one on,” he said on talkSPORT [10 March, 7:41pm].
“West Ham are seventh and one goal down in their European game, which I think they will turn over on Thursday.
“So he’s above Roberto De Zerbi, Eddie Howe, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank, all those who get all these plaudits.
“Yet here West Ham are sitting seventh. Stats wise, the David Moyes out talk just doesn’t add up for me.
“This journey they’ve been on, winning a cup, let’s see where this decision is later in the year. In my opinion, he should be offered a contract.
“He’s an excellent manager. He’s been in the Premier League a while and knows what it takes to keep a team up, organise teams.
“Now and again he can be too defensive-minded for West Ham. We’ve had this conversation before about Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou.
“That might happen at West Ham, but they’d be lucky to find an Ange. Who can they find to replace him?”
David Moyes yet to decide on West Ham United future
The point Pardew is making is that Tottenham fans wanted Conte out due to the bland style of play under the Italian.
In came Postecoglou and all of a sudden Spurs play entertaining football and are picking up positive results at the same time.
It does not always pan out that way, of course, as we saw previously when swapping Moyes for Manuel Pellegrini in the Scotsman’s first stint.
Pellegrini was supposed to be the man to take West Ham up another level, but the opposite is true.

Supporters are fully aware, then, of the risks that are associated with gambling on what you already have.
That is why many want Moyes, who brings stability and success, to stay on beyond this season. For others, a new style of play is needed now.
Ultimately, it is down to Moyes to decide whether he is going to stay or leave. Should he indeed move on, it will then be a matter of time until the whole ‘told you so’ debate begins one way or another depending on how the new manager gets on.
