West Ham may end loan spell of Felipe Anderson at Porto early – report
West Ham may opt to end Felipe Anderson’s loan spell at Porto early in an effort to protect the winger’s value, according to The Guardian.
Anderson joined Porto in the summer but he has failed to make an impact in Portugal with the 27-year-old only playing 49 minutes of league football so far.
The Hammers reportedly remain keen to sell their record signing in the summer and they believe that loaning him somewhere else may generate more interest.
Things look bleak at Porto for Anderson with The Guardian reporting that Porto’s manager, Sergio Conceicao, had reservations about signing the 27-year-old.
The problem that West Ham face, if they do recall Anderson, is that he has done so badly at Porto other clubs may not want to take him.
The Hammers will do well to recoup a decent portion of the record transfer fee they splashed on Anderson in the summer of 2018.
There is seemingly no plans to add Anderson to West Ham’s squad as David Moyes appears to remain unconvinced by the player’s ability.
The Irons already have a plethora of wide players so adding one who is failing to impress back into the squad wouldn’t be a wise move.
There was much excitement around the arrival of Anderson when he arrived at the London Stadium from Lazio but he failed to reward that excitement with quality performances.
10 goals in 63 Premier League appearances followed with the bulk of those strikes coming in his debut season.
Anderson has experienced an incredible fall from grace in recent years and that looks set to continue as the Hammers weigh up whether to bring him back to England prematurely.
In other West Ham news, Nice are reportedly interested in signing Hammers defender Issa Diop.
