West Ham manager David Moyes wants to improve on last season
West Ham manager David Moyes has revealed that he wants the Hammers to improve on their sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 58-year-old discussed in great detail his hopes and ambitions for the Irons this year as they prepare to juggle the Europa League with the Premier League.
However, the former Everton boss sees no reason West Ham can’t build on their performance last season and kick on again.

He said: “I feel we can improve.
“We’ve got a young team that’s building. We’ve got some really talented footballers, so there’s nothing that suggests to me this year will be anything less than what we showed last season.
“It’s up to me and the players to build on what we achieved. We missed out on the Champions League by two or three points, so we have to try to get a little bit closer if we can this time and push on again. I don’t see why we should be setting our ambitions any lower.
“We’ve got a really exciting season ahead of us with European football, and we’re going to try to push on again in the Premier League.
“I don’t see why we shouldn’t as we’ve got the same group of players, so we’ve got every opportunity to do it again.”
Can West Ham match last season?
The Hammers had an incredible season last year and deservedly secured a sixth-place finish in the Premier League and were arguably unlucky to miss out on the Champions League.
However, with other clubs adding to their squad, you would think it would be hard for the Irons to get close to what they achieved last season.
There is no way that a Premier League team can compete at the top end of the Premier League and in the Europa League with only one striker.

So, while it is great to hear that Moyes is ambitious for this season, surely as it stands, West Ham are in a worse position than they ended last season in?
They don’t have Jesse Lingard and have only added Alphonse Areola on loan.
Therefore, we can’t see the Hammers finishing anywhere near sixth unless some more additions are made.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have offered a new contract to one of their star players.
