West Ham make offer to sign Sevilla forward Luuk de Jong
West Ham have reportedly made an offer to Sevilla forward Luuk de Jong as the Dutchman is expected to leave this summer.
According to Spanish media outlet Sport, the 30-year-old could play in the Premier League next season amid West Ham’s interest, but they will have to fend off competition from PSV Eindhoven who are also keen on signing him.
Now, it’s also understood that the Netherlands international will leave this summer, and has been offered to FC Barcelona.

Good news
De Jong, a Europa League winner in 2019/20, is 30 and even if he would be a good target man for us, we’re unlikely to have him for more than two seasons and he’ll eventually need to be replaced.
He’s not the most mobile of strikers and would only be good if we’re constantly relying on our full-backs and wide players to float crosses into the box rather than playing out through the middle.
Having the former Newcastle striker would give us an advantage during set pieces in both boxes, but he cannot genuinely be the player we sign to address our attacking woes.

What we need is a striker who fits into David Moyes’ style of play and would lead the line for us for the foreseeable future.
Hopefully, Ronald Koeman makes the most of his past association with his compatriot and brings him to the Nou Camp.
If we’re signing another striker along with de Jong then he would be welcomed, but we know that will not be happening this summer.
