West Ham make enquiry to sign Aaron Ramsey in January

West Ham have reportedly enquired about the availability of Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey in January.

According to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, the Hammers are keen on bringing the 30-year-old back to the Premier League.

Juventus desperately want him off their books and the London side could be battled to his signature by Everton, who have also made initial contact to explore the option of signing him.

Steer clear

Ramsey may have been a household name after his contract at Arsenal expired and he was snapped up by the Old Lady.

There certainly must have been hard feelings at the club as then manager Unai Emery rated him highly and also labelled him as an “awesome” player. [Goal]

However, plenty of time has passed since then, and his journey in Italy has proven that he’s not the same player he used to be.

He’s become slower than he used to be and his passing has also lost that bite it had when he was in the Premier League.

At 30, one does not expect him to have the same movement as he did during his day, so it looks like a pretty bizarre move should West Ham pursue his signature.

Having signed Alex Kral as a backup to what is an already terrific midfield of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek, the Hammers don’t need to shell out big wages on another midfielder.

We don’t see this one going forward and if it does, it will be a highly questionable one.
