West Ham locked in £25m talks for Matheus Pereira

West Ham United remain locked in talks to sign West Brom superstar Matheus Pereira this summer.

The Daily Express has reported that the Brazilian is now the Irons’ prime target to replace Jesse Lingard in this window.

David Moyes and the Hammers are said to be looking at a £25million deal, although it could start as a loan with an obligation to buy.

Lingard is expected to stay at Old Trafford next season and featured in their pre-season defeat at Queens Park Rangers over the weekend.

That has led to the Irons switching their attentions quickly to Pereira, who is available after the Baggies were relegated.

New Baggies boss Valerien Ismael has already shared that the Brazilian won’t play any pre-season games, as he looks to exit the club.

Pereira would be a shrewd piece of business and it could replicate the Said Benrahma deal that was completed last season.

No brainer.

Pereira was exceptional in the Premier League last season, and he was surrounded by a more-than-poor squad for the majority of it.

The South American scored twice against us, one in each fixture, and proved his class in front of Moyes more than once.

Hitting double figures in that Baggies side was a real task, and we take our hats off for that and would love to see him in the squad next season.

An initial loan deal would be much better for us, as we need the cash to bring in another striker to provide competition for Michail Antonio.

Pereira would offer brilliant options in the final third, but would not be suitable as a number nine, and needs the instruction to roam around.

Get this one done quick, there is surely a big queue waiting for his signature on the dotted line.
