West Ham linked Sam Johnstone likely to have played final game for West Brom amid speculation – Alan Nixon

West Brom star Sam Johnstone is likely to have played his final game for the club with West Ham United circling, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist has reported that transfer talks will open between numerous interested parties once the season is over.

Manchester United, Spurs and Southampton are other Premier League clubs said to be taking an interest in the England international.

Writing on his official Patreon page [14 April, 11:49 am], Nixon shared when talks could open between parties.

“England keeper Sam Johnstone is going to be left out of the West Brom side for the rest of the season,” he wrote.

“And that means that Johnstone is likely to have played his last game for the Baggies as his contract runs out in the summer.

“Johnstone has a host of clubs after him, including Manchester United, West Ham, Tottenham and Southampton. Johnstone is set for talks with interested parties once the season is over.”

Dependant.

This all depends on the future of Alphonse Areola.

With Lukasz Fabianski likely to extend his stay at the London Stadium, will the Frenchman have done enough to stick around too?

The Irons would need to turn his loan move into a permanent deal, something which may require a hefty fee.

Compare that to Johnstone, a homegrown international that would cost nothing but wages given his contract is running out.

David Moyes will be taking a good look at Areola in the remaining weeks of the season, likely starting this evening against Lyon in the Europa League.

This is certainly one to watch over the coming weeks, and it looks as though a transfer war could be brewing in the Premier League.
