West Ham-linked Nat Phillips likely to leave before Monday’s deadline

West Ham are still chasing Liverpool defender Nat Phillips who is “increasingly likely” to leave the club before Monday’s deadline.

According to reports from The Independent, the Reds have already turned down a loan with an obligation to buy offer from Newcastle for Phillips.

The Reds have previously rejected a £7million bid from Watford, and they are not ready to sell him on the cheap.

Busy ending?

The Hammers have been linked with a move for some time, although David Moyes remained coy (22 January) when he was asked about the 24-year-old.

The Express have claimed recently that the Hammers have put the defender as one of their top targets this month.

With West Ham fighting for a place in the top-four, David Moyes should be looking to add a few players before the deadline.

Signing a defender is necessary, but Moyes may refuse to buy one with Kurt Zouma now set to return after injury.

Instead, he could focus on bolstering other areas of the pitch, especially the forward department.

Having said that, with Angelo Ogbonna out and Issa Diop failing to maintain consistency, signing a centre-back makes a lot of sense.

Phillips was brilliant last season for the Reds, but he has struggled for game time in the present campaign.

A move away from Anfield this month is ideal for him. The Hammers could still make a formal move for him, but as of now, they haven’t done that.

In other West Ham news, this Hammers-linked star must be sold this month, according to reports.
