West Ham-linked Jonathan Bamba valued little over £17m

Hertha Berlin have joined the race to sign West Ham-linked Jonathan Bamba from Lille this summer, according to Telefoot and Amazon Prime commentator Fabrice Hawkins.

Hawkins may not be a renowned name in the English media circles, but is well respected in France and is followed by top journalists and publications like Sky Sports Italy’s Fabrizio Romano, Saber Desfarges, Le10Sport’s Alexis Bernard and Get French Football News among many others.

He reported West Ham’s interest in the 25-year-old on August 21 and has now stated that Berlin have entered the race with Lille valuing him at little over £17million.

Via his personal Twitter account, he wrote, “Hertha Berlin have joined the dance. The German club would like to attract Bamba.

“Lille values the player at just over €20 million.”

Good move

At the price Lille are valuing the Frenchman, the Hammers must do whatever they can to bring him to the club.

There are still no guarantees whether or not Jesse Lingard will be signed before the August 31 deadline and if West Ham don’t get a definitive answer soon from Man United, they should move for Bamba.

The Frenchman scored six goals and provided 11 assists in Ligue 1 last season, playing every single game en route to Lille winning the title, against all odds.

He was one of the primary reasons for them achieving that feat and he could help take the Irons to new heights as well should they sign him.

He’s capable of playing on either flanks as well as a number 10/shadow striker which would give David Moyes a plethora options in the final third.

It will be interesting to see how this one transpires.
