West Ham legend Sir Geoff Hurst reacts to Europa League triumph v Lyon
West Ham legend Sir Geoff Hurst has reacted to the Hammers’ emphatic Europa League quarter-final win against Lyon on Thursday night [April 14].
Goals from Craig Dawson, Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen helped the Irons to a 3-0 victory against the Ligue 1 side in the second-leg following the 1-1 draw at the London Stadium.
David Moyes’ side can now look forward to a semi-final clash against German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.
Hurst shared on Twitter: “Fantastic performance and result last night.
“What a feeling for the manager and all the players. Come on West Ham.”
History makers
This squad just don’t realise how happy they are making millions of West Ham fans.
They have exceeded all expectations this season and long may it continue as Moyes takes this club from strength to strength. Who would have thought this was possible after he was sacked after a very lacklustre first spell at the club?

The fans will look back on this season as one of the greatest in history – certainly the greatest in many of their lifetimes – and rightly so.
It isn’t often that the Hammers enjoy major European success so they need to savour every moment of this.
Hopefully, they can go all the way as they are now in touching distance of the trophy.
The Bundesliga side are undoubtedly going to be the Irons’ toughest test yet but you would back Moyes’ side to beat anyone left in the competition given their mightily impressive run. Only three games stand between them and the trophy.
