West Ham lead Newcastle in race to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja

West Ham are reportedly leading the race to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja with Everton and Newcastle also in it.

According to ExWHUemployee, the Hammers will amplify their efforts this week to get closer to reaching an agreement with the Blues over his signature.

The Albanian has not travelled with the pre-season squad and there is an understanding that he could be on his way out.

Ex said on the West Ham Way Podcast, “He also knows a couple of players and the club are said to push with the deal this week as they want to get the deal moving as they’re aware that second, third and fourth targets for the striker position are getting snapped up elsewhere.

“He has got Everton and Newcastle after him but we are said to be leading the chase.

“He has not travelled with the team on their pre-season tour but the reason for it has not been specified. It could be because they want him to sort out his future.”

Sign him

There’s clearly a reason why Chelsea did not take him for their pre-season tour and the Hammers need to capitalise.

Newcastle can easily outspend them so they’ve got to be extremely vigilant in their pursuit of the 20-year-old and agree on personal terms with him as soon as possible.

The Blues will sell him to the highest bidder so before the chance arises of the Toons submitting a bid, West Ham need to agree on a fee.

This week seems to be extremely crucial in getting the deal over the line and excitement is building as the Hammers are now favourites to secure his services.

It has also been understood that West Ham are prepared to pay £35million to sign the Albania international which would mean that GSB will have to loosen the purse strings for other potential incomings.
