West Ham launch offer for Sassuolo defender Mert Muldur

West Ham United have launched an offer for Sassuolo defender Mert Mulder, according to Ekrem Konur.

The journalist with over 100,000 Twitter followers shared the major news on Friday morning as David Moyes looks to strengthen his side.

The Irons are said to have placed a £6million offer, with the director of the Serie A club said to have asked for more waiting time.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Konur shared the update as the Irons look for their first major signing of the summer.

“West Ham have made a £6million offer to Sassuolo for Mert Muldur,” he said.

“Sassuolo sporting director Rossi asked for time to think.”

The Daily Mail shared that there is strong interest from England.

It is suggested that Spurs are also in the race for the 22-year-old, who has impressed on the international stage as well as domestically.

Muldur has 10 caps for Turkey, and made a couple of appearances at the EUROs, despite it being a disappointing tournament for his country.

With Vladimir Coufal shining at right-back, it appears unlikely that our first move of the summer will be for Muldur.

Ryan Fredericks is also still at the club and is in Scotland for pre-season, meaning an exit isn’t imminent from the London Stadium.

There are much bigger areas in the squad that need working on, including the heart of midfield and in the final third.

Muldur looks like a good talent, but in a market where we may need to sell big to buy big, he isn’t a priority.
