West Ham keeping tabs on Sparta Prague ace David Hancko

West Ham are keeping tabs on Sparta Prague ace David Hancko and are keen on a January move, according to ExWHUemployee.

The reliable Hammers insider claimed on the West Ham Way Patreon podcast on Monday evening (24 January at 56min40sec) that the Slovakia international, 24, is someone the club could “possibly consider” this month as David Moyes looks to strengthen at the back.

With the Irons director and major shareholder Daniel Kretinsky the President and co-owner of the Czech outfit, it is believed landing Hancko should not be a problem if the club indeed wants him.

Solid option?

The Sparta ace plays as a left-sided centre-back and can also feature at left-back, and those are two positions David Moyes would love to strengthen before the window shuts next Monday.

Hancko could come in as a much-needed addition to a backline that has struggled in the absence of its first-choice centre-back pairing.

Kurt Zouma returned at the weekend against Manchester United, with Craig Dawson playing alongside him.

While Issa Diop is available to provide cover from the bench, West Ham clearly could do with another signing and upgrade as the Frenchman did not particularly impress when given several chances to.

Hancko is not only solid at the back, he can also wreak havoc at the other end, with six goals and an assist to his name in 27 appearances for his side.

The Hammers could do with such a player during the second half of the campaign, and Kretinsky’s influence could come in handy.

They have a week left to seal a deal, though, and whether they can remains to be seen.

The London Stadium outfit are yet to make any additions to their squad this month, and fans will be eager to see what the plan is during the final week of the winter transfer window.
