West Ham keep close track of Darwin Nunez as Benfica set asking price

West Ham are one of the club still interested in signing Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, according to A Bola.

The likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are also interested while the two Milan clubs are also in the mix to sign the talented striker.

The report clearly states that of all the clubs, the Hammers are keeping a close eye on him. He has a release clause of £126m in his contract.

However, Benfica could settle down for a fee of around £50million – 60 per cent off his release clause – for the striker, as they look to pocket a big fee from his departure.

Superb addition

Nunez would be a superb signing for the club.

The Hammers need to sign a striker in the summer, as they simply cannot enter another season with Michail Antonio being the only option.

A player with Premier League experience would have been ideal, but Nunez is a player with great potential. He is only 22 and has been scoring goals in the Portuguese league for fun.

This season, he has managed 26 goals for his club, and David Moyes would love to see him replicate those numbers at the London club.

Being a young talent, he probably won’t have the fascination to join a Champions League side at the moment, and rather would love to move to a club that can give him regular opportunities.

Given the price, the Hammers must not miss out on the opportunity to sign him in the summer.

In other West Ham news, a super-agent believes this Hammers star has been “snookered” by recent developments at another Premier League club.
