West Ham keep ‘close eye’ on Dejan Lovren – report
West Ham are keeping a “close eye” on Premier League winner Dejan Lovren amid links, according to Claret & Hugh.
The news comes as FIFA says that clubs in other countries can sign up to two players that play for clubs residing in Russia or Ukraine outside of the transfer window amid the conflict.
Lovren currently plays for Zenit Saint Petersburg which means the Hammers could steal the Croatian on a free transfer.

With the defender aged 32, a short-term two-year deal has been mooted.
Why not?
If West Ham manage to get Lovren on a free, that would be a brilliant piece of business.
It means the Hammers only have to pay the players’ wages which aren’t likely to be extortionate, making it a very low-risk deal.
His age is a bit of a concern with him approaching the end of his career but thankfully it is reported the club would likely tie him down to a short-term deal should it happen.

He is a much better defender than Issa Diop and probably a level above Craig Dawson despite his impressive performances this season which means the squad will genuinely be strengthened which is a must for David Moyes when bringing in players.
He has brilliant experience as well that can help the club reach higher levels. The centre-back has played in Champions League finals, World Cup semi-finals and won a host of major trophies.
He knows what it takes to win and that experience wouldn’t go a miss in the Irons squad.
