West Ham keen on signing Espanyol winger Adrian Embarba – Report

West Ham United have reportedly joined the race to sign 29-year-old Espanyol winger Adrian Embarba this summer.

According to Spanish publication Sport, Embarba is subject to transfer interest from a host of English clubs including West Ham and Wolves while the newly-promoted duo of Norwich and Watford are also keen on signing him.

Espanyol are looking to remodel their financial system and the sale of some of their stars could go a long way in achieving that.

West Ham

Embarba has enjoyed an impressive season scoring nine and assisting 14 in 36 games this season.

However, Espanyol ply their trade in the Spanish second division and do have one of the strongest sides.

Not sure about this one

While his numbers may be impressive, they’re not in one of Europe’s top five leagues or even at a first-division club.

At 29, there are doubts whether he would adapt instantly to life in the Premier League. He plies his trade on the right flank and that’s not a position that we need to strengthen in.

We do not have an unlimited source of funds for the summer, so it’s important we’re prudent and don’t go after targets just for their raw goal-scoring and assist numbers.

Our priorities are to sign a striker, goalkeeper, centre-back, left-back and a midfielder to provide some depth in that area of the pitch.

West Ham

Unless Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko leave, we’re pretty sorted in terms of our wide attacking options in reserve.

It’s fine if for this one we let the likes of Wolves, Norwich and Watford have their way because we have loftier ambitions than the trio, and our signings should reflect upon that fact.
