West Ham keen as January Premier League move mooted for Club Brugge ace Hans Vanaken

West Ham remain a serious candidate for the signature of Club Brugge attacking midfielder Hans Vanaken, according to Voetbal24

The Belgium international, 29, is among the favourites to be named as the best footballer in the First Division A for 2021 in January, and it is expected that if he takes home the gong, he will then move to the Premier League.

The Hammers have had Vanaken on their radar for a while, but whether they will be looking to move for him when the winter transfer window opens next month remains to be seen.

Solid option?

Vanaken has scored eight times and weighed in with three assists in 23 appearances across the Champions League and Jupiler Pro League so far in 2021-22.

The attacker ended last season with 14 goals and seven assists in 42 games, and he could be picking up his third Golden Shoe in four years as a result.

It appears many expect him to finally leave Belgium having started his professional career in his homeland since 2010, and the Hammers could do with such a quality attacker.

They have struggled to break down teams below in the Premier League table this term, dropping points against the likes of Burnley, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Brentford, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton and Hove Albion.

West Ham will need to shake things up in January as they need more creativity in the final third, and Vanaken could prove to be a solid addition.

He would be keen to finally prove himself in the top-flight, and he is the type of signing the Irons should be able to afford.

David Moyes and the fans would ideally love to bring back Jesse Lingard from Manchester United, but should that prove difficult, the Club Brugge star could be their man.
