West Ham: Jamie O’Hara and Dean Saunders share David Moyes sack verdict after Everton win

West Ham United manager David Moyes deserves more credit for masterminding the Hammers’ Premier League win over Everton, according to Jamie O’Hara and Dean Saunders.

The Hammers picked up a second consecutive win in the Premier League with an excellent 3-1 win over the Toffees at Goodison Park on Saturday (2 March) thanks to goals from Kurt Zouma, Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez.

Moyes has come under growing pressure for the Irons’ poor performances in recent weeks, but O’Hara has admitted that the Scotsman deserves more praise for continuously managing to pick up results in the Premier League with the comeback win at Everton following a 4-2 home triumph v Brentford.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Saturday (2 March, 17:44) he said: “You know what, you see with David Moyes, he takes a lot of stick but I’ll tell you what, he gets results. He finds a performance for his team.”

Saunders was quick to agree saying: “They’re seventh in the league. West Ham, where do you want to be? Where should you be?

“We understand it’s not great to watch sometimes, we’ve become obsessed with a style of play when David Moyes with the hand that he’s been dealt, knows how to get the best out of them.”

Will West Ham sack David Moyes following Premier League win over Everton?

West Ham were far from perfect in their clash with Everton, but the important thing from the Hammers’ perspective is that they once again found a way to claim all three points at Goodison Park, even if it wasn’t pretty.

Many fans and supporters have been vocal in their unhappiness with the Scotsman’s defensive style of football, but on Saturday it once again showed that it has a place in the modern game as it worked well against Sean Dyche’s side.

West Ham
David Moyes has found himself under increasing pressure at West Ham United.

Moyes has confirmed that he has been offered a new deal at the London Stadium, which he has decided to leave in the background until the end of the season, but should West Ham continue picking up these sorts of results, he may be tempted to sign on the dotted line.

Hopefully, the Irons will turn their last two wins into a bit of a Premier League streak in the coming weeks, if results continue to go their way, European qualification for next season might not be entirely out of the question.
