West Ham: International media wowed by Mohammed Kudus after Ghana AFCON draw v Egypt

West Ham star Mohammed Kudus got his Africa Cup of Nations campaign for Ghana off to a flying start by scoring twice in Thursday’s entertaining 2-2 draw with Egypt.

The Egyptians fought back twice to draw 2-2 with the Black Stars after a lively second half in Abidjan on Thursday (18 January).

West Ham star Kudus once again proved the star of the show for his country with two goals either side of half-time, the first strike proving extra special after a superb effort from all of 25 yards.

And Ghanaian news outlet Ghana Soccer Net (18 January) shared their reaction to Kudus’ display for Chris Houghton’s men, handing him a “9/10” display, writing: “A game to remember for Kudus who scored a brace in his first AFCON game. More beautifully he did it after returning from injury.”

What a player

Yet again, Kudus has continued to show everybody exactly what he can do. Whether it’s for West Ham or for his country, it’s these moments of absolute magic that make him such a special player, and he proved it again on Thursday night.

Manchester United fans must be wrapped with plenty of regret that Erik ten Hag chose Antony over the Ghanaian maestro and that regret is increasing with every passing week with the West Ham United man proving he is when of the best attacking midfielders in Europe.

After suffering injury troubles before the tournament with a hamstring injury, there were concerns that Kudus would not be ready to feature for Ghana early on, but after being rested for the opening day defeat to Cape Verde, he has returned with a bang.

West Ham

Having lost on the opening day, another loss for Ghana would mean an early exit from AFCON, but Kudus’ opening goal against Egypt provided hope and gave his side the best opportunity to keep their dreams alive, with his brace securing a draw for his country.

If Ghana are to have any chance of securing their place in the knockout rounds, their hopes and dreams will certainly be resting on the shoulders of the West Ham man who is continuing to wow his own fans in East London and in his native country.
