West Ham insider denies claims that the club is at risk of insolvency

A West Ham insider has told Claret and Hugh that the club is “in very safe hands” and denied any claim that they are in financial trouble.

This follows on from a claim by Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli that West Ham were one of a number of clubs who were at “risk of insolvency” as he tried to defend the Super League [calciomercato].

However, Hugh Southon, from Claret and Hugh, has reported that a “well-informed Hammers insider” has assured fans that their club is fine and there is nothing to worry about.

Positive news

West Ham made a huge loss during the last financial year due to the pandemic, but pretty much every club in the Premier League also suffered the same fate [The Athletic].

Therefore, it was bizarre to hear Agnelli state that the Irons were close to going bust, but then again, he has said some ridiculous things about the failed Super League [ESPN].

The club seem to be on sound ground financially, and it looks as if we can take Agnelli’s suggestion with a pinch of salt, which is not a surprise.

The Irons are also going to hand David Moyes a transfer budget of between £50m-£60m, which they wouldn’t have done if the club was in financial trouble [The West Ham Way].

So, it is good to hear that the club have very little to worry about financially, and it is also good to see that Agnelli is spectacularly wrong once again.
