West Ham signing Lucas Paqueta may convince Declan Rice to sign new deal
West Ham are reportedly centring their talks with Lyon over the structure of the deal to sign midfielder Lucas Paqueta.
That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth who claims that the Hammers are not giving up on24-year-old. their pursuit to sign the 24-year-old.
After an opening bid was rejected, the club are looking to find a common ground with their Ligue 1 counterparts and agree on a fee.
Via Twitter, Sheth wrote, “Talks centred around structure of the deal.
“Lyon have rejected West Ham United’s €40m offer for midfielder Lucas Paqueta. Talks are ongoing between the clubs. West Ham expected to go back in with an improved offer.”
Paqueta seems to be the midfield signing that many Hammers fans were crying out for.
If Declan Rice is to be kept at the club beyond this season, he needs to see big-name signings being made and he clearly is one of them.
This summer, the Hammers have acted efficiently in the transfer market and signing the 24-year-old will be the cherry on the cake.
Paqueta is a full Brazil international and will undoubtedly be a terrific addition to this West Ham squad.
He will offer much needed solidity in the middle of the park and also serve as a perfect link between attack and defence.
The Irons have the money to spend this summer and do not mind loosening the purse strings on players they think will add value to the playing eleven.
Hopefully, they can narrow down the terms and we could see the Brazilian at the London Stadium soon.
After a second bid being rejected, it does look tough but if West Ham are to show that they’re a serious club then they must do whatever it takes to sign the midfielder.
