West Ham in fresh talks today over major new contract for Tomas Soucek
West Ham have held fresh talks today (Wednesday) over a new long-term contract for Tomas Soucek, according to Claret & Hugh.
The reliable Hammers news outlet reports that the Irons want Soucek, 26, to agree terms for a five-year deal that’ll see him stay at the London Stadium until he’s 31-years-old.
It is understood that David Moyes was involved in the talks with Soucek’s representatives today but no agreement has been made.

Claret & Hugh’s source at the East London club said: “We have been unable to come to terms today but we’ll continue talking towards and at the end of the season.”
Stalled
Is it really a surprise to see West Ham have failed to agree a new deal with Soucek today?
The Hammers’ form has dipped in recent weeks and the lack of signings in January is bound to be a massive red flag for the club’s star players.
Yes, we’re doing amazingly well in the Premier League and no one really expected this turnaround in fortunes under Moyes’ leadership. However, where’s the ambition now? Where does the club go from here?

If you want us to be blunt, it feels like the only place to go from where we are now is down and failing to add players to the squad is a massive reason for the likes of Soucek to snub new deals.
He’s not exactly set the East End alight with his performances in recent weeks but the Czech international is still one of our best and most important players.
West Ham have to convince their top players to stay with more than just money – they need to show them what they failed to show them in January. An ambitious plan to really take this club to the next level.
In other West Ham news, a pundit has reacted to the Irons being in talks over a £120,000-a-week deal amid recent developments.
