ExWHUemployee claims that West Ham have held talks with Reims over signing their in-form striker Boulaye Dia.
On Wednesday, Sky Sports linked Dia with a switch to the London Stadium as the club look to replace Sebastien Haller.
In-the-know ExWHUemployee, speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, backed up this report and stated that the Irons have already spoken to Reims.
He said, “Now, the player that we have moved ahead of [Joshua King], and I think has now been identified as our number-one forward choice, is Boulaye Dia.
“He seems to fit the [mould] of Antonio, as well. He’s got that pace, that unpredictability, that work ethic, he runs the channels.
“We’ve definitely held talks with his club I believe, certainly tentatively, as in, not concrete offers.”
With the January transfer window approaching its halfway stage the Hammers need to get a shift on if they are to secure the services of a new striker.
After plenty of forwards were linked with a switch to the London Stadium following Haller’s sale it now seems that Dia is the preferred option.
Dia is joint top of the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts with 12 goals which is the same amount as PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.
This places him in esteemed company and his record is even more impressive after taking a glance at the Ligue 1 table that shows Reims in 14th place.
The comparisons to Michail Antonio will do Dia’s reputation no harm and it makes sense that we are targeting someone who can do a similar job to the one first-team striker still at the club.
Hopefully, this deal is done sooner rather than later as we cannot afford to only have one striker in the first team for the remainder of the season.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers must avoid repeating Haller mistakes if Milik is signed
