West Ham hold slim chances of signing Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard

West Ham will pursue to sign Jesse Lingard in January, but the chances of that going through remain very slim, according to ExWHUemployee.

The reliable Hammers insider claims that the England international wants to stay on at Manchester United and see his contract out which expires at the end of the season.

West Ham are understood to now explore alternatives as they’re unlikely to tempt him to leave in the winter window.

Ex said, “I got a further update on Lingard situation today and does appear that the player favours staying at Manchester United and seeing out his contract and making a decision on his future in the summer.

“It is felt that despite the fact the club will attempt to sign him at his point the chances of him coming to West Ham are small and alternatives will be explored.”

Here we go again

Lingard has been the leading West Ham transfer story since the summer and it’s about time we move on with it.

For some bizarre reason, he feels that he’s better off warming the bench at Old Trafford rather than being a key player for the Hammers.

It’s strange given how well he did under David Moyes last season, and that form catapulted into selection for the England squad.

He thought that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would give him game time and believes the same thing will happen under Ralf Rangnick.

West Ham are better off looking at younger alternatives anyway and there’s no need to waste time trying to pursue him to join in January.

Should he still want a move in the summer, then the club could look to get him on a free transfer.

In other West Ham news, the club have made an approach to sign a ‘Terrific’ international ace and a January move is on the cards
