West Ham hold interest in Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma, player in London for talks

West Ham are one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing Arnaut Danjuma on loan this month, according to the Daily Mail.

The Dutch forward, according to David Ornstein, flew into London [14 January] to hold talks with clubs regarding a loan move in the January window.

The La Liga outfit granted him permission to travel to the UK on the eve of Saturday in order to discuss a potential move away, with the player reportedly [13 January] suffering from a breakdown in relations with his Villarreal teammates.

And ExWHUemployee reported previously [11 January] that the Hammers could secure the 25-year-old’s signing who is available on loan this month. However, they aren’t the only club touting his services.

According to the Daily Mail [15 January], Nottingham Forest have joined the Hammers, Everton, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and his former side AFC Bournemouth in the race.

Keep faith in Benrahma

There’s no doubt that Danjuma could well be a stunning signing for the Hammers this month. The 25-year-old holds real European pedigree, having so far enjoyed a great two-year spell with the Yellow Submarine, registering 22 goals in 51 games, including six goals in the Champions League last season.

Danjuma is a player with real quality who can significantly boost any side in the Premier League. However, David Moyes already possesses quality of his own, and signing Danjuma could well stunt the growth and potential of one player in particular.

Said Benrahma has been a bright spark in what’s been a difficult spell for West Ham in recent weeks, with much clamour for the Hammers faithful for David Moyes to start him in more games as a result.

However, for one reason or the other, Moyes simply does not trust in him which is a real shame because the Algerian star possesses the class and skill to create chances out of nothing, especially for a side suffering a quite barren season in front of goal.

What will Danjuma’s acquisition mean for the likes of Pablo Fornals, and Maxwel Cornet who’s yet to return from injury having only joined last summer?

Signing the Dutch international would be deemed as desperation, and he may well prove the difference, but players like Benrahma deserve a consistent spell in the team.
