West Ham have changed their mindset on how to approach big games
David Moyes claims that he and West Ham have changed their mindset on how to approach games against the ‘big-six’ this season.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference before the Hammers face Brentford, the Irons boss claimed that his side would go out and attack the likes of Manchester United [Evening Standard].
This suggests that the Irons will no longer look to play on the counter against the bigger teams with the bigger budgets but try and match them, which is a very brave way of approaching these games.

He said: “I think for our games against Manchester United, I’m going into those bigger games with a far different mindset. I’m going [to say]: ‘I’m taking you on’. Maybe we don’t get as many chances. But don’t think I’m going to get into those games thinking that we’re not going to try to take you on.”
Bold stuff from Moyes.
This is fantastic to hear that the Scotsman believes his side can take on any club in the league and win.
This is surely something to be proud of, and Irons fans must love this team that Moyes is building; they clearly have no fear and are intent on attacking every team in the league.
In the two games against Manchester United this season, you could certainly argue that the Irons gave as good as they got.

They were unlucky to lose at the London Stadium in the league, and then in the Carabao Cup, a much-changed Hammers team took the game to the Red Devils at Old Trafford and won.
So, Moyes isn’t just saying this, it is clear that he is putting it into practice, and over the course of the season, it will be intriguing to see how this change in mindset works out against the top sides over the course of the season.
