West Ham have £45m in bank to sign striker and defender

West Ham have £45million this summer to sign both a striker as well as a defender, according to ExWHUemployee.

David Moyes has made signing a forward and centre-back his top priorities for this transfer window.

Given Alphonse Areola’s arrival, the Hammers now have £5million fewer to spend on their two desired transfer targets.

On his Patreon page, the reliable Hammers insider wrote, “We still have around £50million available – the figure I said at the start of the window.

“You have to minus the loan fees for Areola from that which leaves around £45million-ish for a centre-back and forward (which I am told are the top priorities).”

Is that enough?

Given the ridiculous transfer fees that players go for these days, we believe it is a tad below-par and the board must loosen the purse strings further if they seriously want to make us a big club.

Moyes did everything he could with a limited budget and that group of players last season, and if anything, possibly overperformed.

This is not how he must be rewarded.

If we are to sign Nikola Milenkovic for £15million that leaves only £30million left for a striker.

With £30million we will only get players in the final years of their contract or those who are being pushed out of the door by their respective clubs.

Our aim should be to get someone who’s proven his worth in one of Europe’s top five leagues for a few years and who would be a good fit for the Premier League.

It remains to be seen who we end up signing this summer.
