West Ham fear Jarrod Bowen won’t play v Sevilla due to swelling foot

West Ham fear that Jarrod Bowen won’t play against Sevilla in the first leg of the Round of 16 Europa League on Thursday.

The Hammers ace picked up an Achilles injury during the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield last week, and he was taken off in the second half.

According to The Evening Standard, Bowen is still suffering from significant swelling.

Bowen has already undergone a scan where it was revealed that he didn’t pick up a major injury. He is set to undergo further scans this week.

Big blow

Missing Bowen for such a huge game is a big blow for the club.

The 25-year-old has been in top form this season, managing 12 goals and 9 assists in all competitions.

He has taken his game to a whole new level since the turn of the year and has scored seven goals in the last 11 games.

Nigel Reo-Coker hailed him as a “phenomenal” player for his outstanding contribution this season. However, it seems, he could be missing the Europa League game.

West Ham

The Hammers will hope that Declan Rice will return for this game after the midfielder missed the clash against Liverpool on Saturday.

David Moyes can take encouragement from the fact that the Hammers matched Liverpool toe-to-toe throughout the game, and they could have won at Anfield had they been more clinical.

Pablo Fornals, Manuel Lanzini and Michail Antonio have been excellent against the Reds, and Moyes will expect another big performance from them.
