West Ham fans will love how Lingard arrived for England training
West Ham fans will have been delighted to see Jesse Lingard arrive for his training with the national team holding a Hammers bag.
The West Ham crest was visible and it is believed to be a brazen message that the player sees himself as a Hammers player and is not interested in going back to Manchester United, where he’s unlikely to be a first-team regular.
Lingard hit the ground running since he joined West Ham on loan in February. From being a neglected peripheral figure at Old Trafford, he walked into the London Stadium to become the club’s main man.
With nine goals in the Premier League this season, he finished second to only Michail Antonio who scored one more to lead the Hammers’ league goal-scoring charts.
His four-month stint at West Ham has been enough to convince David Moyes to sign him permanently this summer.
Per recent reports, Man United will be looking for a fee in the region of £30m to part ways with the England international.
Time to negotiate
Lingard’s in the final year of his deal at Old Trafford, so it’s surprising to see them demand such a high transfer fee who would not have been worth half of it last summer.
Just because they know we’re keen on signing him they’re playing these kinds of games to drive up his price.
Lingard seems to be happy with Moyes and his West Ham teammates and there’s no reason why he wouldn’t want to join us permanently.
However, he would be aware of our financial situation and his reluctance to stay at Old Trafford could force the Manchester outfit to reduce his price.
Because if they don’t do that, it’s unlikely anybody would buy him at that rate. What they’ll get out of it is a disgruntled player who will end up leaving for free next summer.
The ball is firmly in West Ham’s court and we hope GSB don’t mess this one up.
