West Ham eye cut-price deal for Leeds United star duo in summer

West Ham are keeping a “close eye” on proceedings at Leeds United ahead of the summer transfer window according to Claret & Hugh.

Jesse Marsch’s side sits five points above the relegation zone in 16th following their goalless draw with Crystal Palace last night [April 25].

Having reportedly made failed moves in the January window for Whites duo Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, the Hammers could reinstate their interest should they drop down the Championship.

David Moyes may be able to save some money with “cut-price” moves for the duo if Leeds were to be relegated.

Steal.

If West Ham could prise one of these Leeds stars away from Elland Road in the summer – never mind the both of them – that would be massive.

With Declan Rice seemingly on his way out of the club having turned down his third contract request at the London Stadium, his England teammate Phillips would be everyone’s first choice.

He is similar to Rice in terms of position and how they dictate the play which makes it a like for like swap.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t room in the squad for Raphinha though. He has single handily carried the Whites this season as they battle injuries to key players and also possesses so much quality – he is a South American magician.

Admittedly, it does seem very unlikely that either one makes the move to east London in the summer – a lot has to fall into place for it to happen.

The most important being Leeds dropping out of the Premier League which seems unlikely under Marsch. That is before a host of clubs come sniffing for the pair.

In other West Ham news, a BBC pundit has slammed Moyes’ harsh criticism of one key West Ham man.
