West Ham defender Issa Diop to sign contract with Fulham today – Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United defender Issa Diop is edging closer to completing a move to newly-promoted side Fulham, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the London Stadium in the ongoing transfer window.

Romano, in a column on Caughtoffside, has reported that Diop will sign his contract on Tuesday morning with Fulham for a move worth £15million.

He also stated that the player will sign a six-year contract which will tie him down to the club till the summer of 2028.

West Ham arrived in the transfer window with some question marks over their defensive line and with just over three weeks remaining, those question marks are still there.

New signing Nayef Aguerd has been ruled out for at least a couple of months after suffering an injury in the pre-season and with Diop also leaving, it will be interesting to see how David Moyes will work with the options he has on the defensive front.

West Ham

It is also extremely crucial that West Ham must invest all the money coming in from the sale of the 25-year-old to bolster the defensive unit for the 2022-23 campaign.

Diop joined the Hammers in the summer of 2018 from Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse in a deal worth £22.5 million. Since then, the former French U21 international represented the Irons in 119 matches across all competitions where he managed to score eight times and provided three assists as well [Transfermarkt].

This has to spark West Ham into life with more incoming transfers, the club can’t rest until they are done.
