West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna on course for full recovery

West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna is on course for full recovery, according to reports from Claret and Hugh.

The 33-year-old picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury this season and has undergone surgery.

His recuperation is going well, but unlike Kurt Zouma, there’s little to no chance for him to make a comeback to the side this season.

An insider told Claret and Hugh: “He’s on course for a full recovery although there’s little chance of a return before the next campaign when he will be offered a new contract as promised.”

Big miss

Ogbonna was playing really well before he picked up an injury against Liverpool.

David Moyes hailed him as “excellent” back in November before adding that he doesn’t expect him to return this campaign as it takes time to heal from a cruciate injury.

On top of that, Ogbonna is fast approaching the fag end of his career. He may require more time to get back to proper fitness.

West Ham

Ogbonna has a contract at the club till the end of the season, but the Hammers have shown a great gesture by promising him to hand another one-year deal at the club.

Luckily for the Hammers, Zouma has returned to training after a long injury lay-off. His return to the side is seen almost as a new signing.

In terms of signings, West Ham failed to land a defender in January despite being linked with a host of players.
