West Ham deal for Chelsea striker Armando Broja ‘off’ – Fabrizio Romano
West Ham United are unlikely to make a move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Hammers have been in the market to sign a player in order to strengthen the attacking department ahead of the next campaign.
One of the players they’ve been heavily linked with in the recent past is Broja who impressed everyone with his performances during his loan spell last year with Southampton.
However, Romano, in a tweet on Friday, July 23, stated that after agreeing to a deal to sign Gianluca Scamacca, the Irons’ move for Broja is off for now.
West Ham’s one prominent area of concern in the previous campaign where they finished seventh in the Premier League and also cemented a spot in the semi-finals of the Europa League was the attacking department where Michail Antonio struggled with injuries.
Scamacca is a very good striker and will definitely improve West Ham’s attack. However, it is hard to ignore the credentials of Broja as well.

In the 2021-22 season at Southampton, the young striker scored six Premier League goals and eight across all competitions. In the Premier League, he averaged 1.4 shots per goal and 2.8 successful aerial duels per game [Whoscored].
Those numbers prove that while signing Broja is a little different striker to Scamacca and therefore, West Ham must not abandon the idea of signing him as well along with the Italy international because both have different qualities and they can form a deadly duo up front for the London-based club.
