West Ham: David Moyes and Tim Steidten relationship detailed amid ‘no love lost’ verdict
David Moyes and Tim Steidten still have a fractious relationship with “no love lost” between the pair at West Ham, according to journalist Dean Jones.
The Hammers ended a 43-year wait for major silverware when Moyes led the Hammers to Europa Conference League glory last season.
Steidten was consequently appointed as the club’s technical director in July to oversee responsibility for recruitment and scouting.
There had been rumours that manager Moyes and Steidten were at loggerheads in the summer over where best placed to be searching in terms of incomings.
And Jones, speaking to GiveMeSport (7 February), said the pair are still not exactly the best of friends.
“In terms of Moyes and Steidten, there is no love lost,” he said.
“Even at this stage, I don’t feel like they’ve suddenly become best mates and everything is completely rosy behind the scenes there.”
West Ham have a problem to solve with David Moyes and Tim Steidten
For most clubs to be successful in the modern-day game they need to have the right team behind the scenes, whether that be a director of football or technical director, or whatever title you want to give it.
But there is no doubt that Moyes is a little more old school and you expect that he will always want to retain a big say in the sort of players West Ham approach and sign for the club.

Ideally, he and Steidten – who has been linked with taking a behind-the-scenes role at Liverpool – would find a way to get along better because Steidten did some pretty shrewd work in the summer window, not least bringing in Mohamed Kudus from Ajax.
If the two cannot find a way to get along then you do feel like something has to give. Moyes is yet to sign a new contract, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season, so there may be a choice for the board to make between the two.
In other West Ham news, Moyes also reportedly has friction with one of his players.
