West Ham United transfer news as Jude Bellingham exit key in Edson Alvarez hunt
West Ham are said to be showing “concrete interest” in signing Edson Alvarez amid a delay in Borussia Dortmund’s attempts to sign the player, according to Dutch journalist Mike Verweij, writing on his Twitter account.
The Mexican international is said to prefer a switch to the German giants but with a fee yet to be agreed upon, the Hammers are waiting in the wings as they consider potential reinforcements to fill the huge void left by the expected departure of Declan Rice this summer.
Dortmund have similar concerns of their own with Jude Bellingham’s transfer to Real Madrid now confirmed. BVB will now move to secure new additions at the Westfalenstadion in the coming weeks.

Verweij provided further information on this potential transfer saga, including some insight on the preference of the midfielder.
“Read a lot about Alvarez,” he said.
“At Ajax, no offer has yet been received from Borussia Dortmund. Has to do with finishing Bellingham deal.
“Proposal for Mexican itself also still in the making. Alvarez is still Dortmund’s top priority. Concrete interest from West Ham United is correct.”

Significant proposition
West Ham fans should be quite encouraged by this potential move, but it is fair to say that they are not favourites.
Now that Bellingham’s future has been thrashed out, one part is the equation has been solved so things should move quickly regarding Alvarez.
The price tag for the 25-year-old will be interesting, following reports from GetFootballNewsGermany that Dortmund are prepared to offer just under £30m for the Mexican. Last summer, Ajax are said to have rejected a bid of £49.5m from Chelsea for Alvarez.
The sun is still shining on West Ham following the Europa Conference League victory which was a historic moment for the club, but behind the scenes, preparations will already be underway for the new campaign and particularly, around the situation of Rice.
There will be a slim hope that the player will stay, but realistically it is about returning as much for the captain as possible and then putting the funds to good use.
