West Ham could still sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United
West Ham might still be in with a chance of signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United after Claret & Hugh provided their latest update on the situation.
They claim that “according to some Old Trafford sources”, the acquisition of Jadon Sancho could still see Lingard leave the Red Devils as “the money men” at Manchester United could have the final say.
This is despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirming on Sunday that he wants Lingard to be part of his team this season, which seemed to be a huge blow for the Hammers [Sky Sports]. However, this latest report is surely better news for West Ham, and Lingard could still end up at the London Stadium.
Lingard saga drags on!
The transfer window has been open for over a month now, and it seems baffling that Lingard hasn’t already signed for the Irons.
The club want him, and he was a star for them in the second half of last season, but for whatever reason, the 28-year-old is still with the Red Devils and seems determined to fight for his place [Manchester United’s official site].
Solskjaer also wants to keep him, so should West Ham just move on?
Well, we are now less than a month away from the start of the Premier League campaign, and if Lingard still hasn’t decided, he either isn’t that keen, waiting for other offers, or wants to stay at Old Trafford.
So the Hammers should move on from this pursuit because they could end up leaving everything too late and miss out on Lingard and other targets.
This update gives them hope that they could still sign Lingard but also ensures that this saga drags on a bit longer, which helps no one.
