West Ham could offload Said Benrahma in summer

West Ham could offload Said Benrahma in the summer transfer window, according to one report from Claret and Hugh.

The Algerian has been underperforming in recent months, and the club could look to sell him if the right offer comes in for the Algerian.

The report suggests that David Moyes is looking to make more effective signings this summer with Head of Recruitment Rob Newman looking to make his presence felt.

C&H says: “There are also hints that Said Benrahma could find himself available to another club were the right offer to emerge should his form not to improve.”

Right decision?

The 26-year-old arrived at the London Stadium on loan from Brentford in October 2020 and ended up joining the club on a permanent deal in January.

Benrahma has shown moments of brilliance at times but overall, he disappoints and frustrates. The talent is there, but somehow, he has not fully realised it at the London club.

This season, it has been a similar story. He has put in defensive shifts and showed consistency, but his level of performance has dropped considerably after his return from international duty.

He has shown so much promise at the start of the season, and Carlton Cole even hailed him as “high quality”. It seems, his days at the London Stadium could be over unless he makes some serious progress.

There are even suggestions that he is not a player Moyes is particularly fond of, and perhaps selling him in the summer would be the right option. The money could be reinvested into the squad.

Benrahma probably doesn’t fit in Moyes’ system, and he could show his class under a manager who will give him more freedom to express himself.

In other West Ham news, Adrian Durham blamed the club’s failings for letting Arsenal surge into the top four on talkSPORT.
