West Ham could make another move for Hans Vanaken
West Ham could reignite a move for Club Brugge man Hans Vanaken, according to a new report.
Voetbal 24 claim that because the Hammers are now in the Europa League, they have a chance of signing the attacking midfielder if they want to.
The Irons were linked with a move for the 29-year-old in 2020, but at the time, Vanaken wanted to move to a club where he could win trophies and play in Europe [Irish Mirror].

The Hammers are now in European competition, and it appears as if they could revive a move for the Belgian international in 2022.
However, the Irons do have plenty of options in attacking midfield, so you would have to question the need for another one, even if Vanaken might now want the move.
Surely nothing in this?
The 29-year-old has been described as “excellent” by then24 recently, so he is a player who has a good reputation within football.
However, there are a lot of things against him with this move.
For one, he is 29, and under David Moyes, West Ham have been trying to buy younger players.
The main issue, though, is that there are plenty of players who can play as an attacking midfielder in Moyes’ squad already.

There really is no need for the Hammers to sign another one when there are other positions that need strengthening instead.
For example, the Irons have two centre-backs injured, and they still only have one first-team striker.
So, why would they look at bringing in Vanaken when there are much more important areas of the field that need improving?
So though it is an interesting theory, we can’t see this move happening in the near future or ever really.
