West Ham chief Karren Brady furious with ‘appalling’ FIFA developments

Karren Brady has explicitly condemned FIFA for backtracking on one of their rules ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Vice-Chairman Brady is known for making her thoughts on the footballing world clear, despite facing a wave of scrutiny at West Ham.

Pressure is mounting on Sullivan and Brady, as fans continue to hound them over the poor results, the unsuccessful recruitment, and issues with the London Stadium.

The West Ham Fan Advisory Board wrote to the board of directors to issue a vote of no confidence, and as a result, Brady agreed to meet with supporters on 11 September.

Despite the unrest, Sullivan and Brady are staying at West Ham for the foreseeable future, and she has shared her own discontent towards FIFA and their handling of Cristiano Ronaldo’s red card against the Republic of Ireland.

Karren Brady shocked by Cristiano Ronaldo’s reduced ban

Ronaldo was sent off for Portugal on 13 November for elbowing Dara O’Shea, and he was expected to be handed a three-match ban, which would have ruled him out for his country’s first two group matches of the World Cup.

However, Ronaldo served one match in the final qualifier against Armenia, although the other two will only be activated if he commits another infringement during the probationary period.

In an article she wrote in The Sun, Brady failed to understand why Ronaldo was given leniency in his case.

She said: “Here was me thinking violent conduct meant an automatic three-game ban. Not, it seems, when your name is Ronaldo, and you have just posed for a selfie with FIFA boss Gianni Infantino in the White House.

“Then you get a one-match ban, with two ‘suspended’. It is appalling.”

FIFA’s regulations state a ban of at least three matches must be applied for ‘assault, including elbowing, punching, kicking, biting, spitting at, or hitting an opponent.’

Their disciplinary committee said it took into account the fact that he had never received a red card for Portugal before.

With the World Cup draw taking place on 5 December, several countries will be extremely unhappy if the all-time legend faces them in the tournament’s group stage.

While Brady makes a valid argument, West Ham fans will be wanting her to focus all her efforts ion improving matters in E20.

Karren Brady should stay committed to focusing on West Ham

Brady was the key figure to push through a move for West Ham to play at the 2012 Olympic Stadium – now known as the ‘London Stadium’.

The London Stadium is at the heart of West Ham’s problems, with the distance between the fans and the pitch contributing to a subdued atmosphere.

The Hammers have a plethora of issues that need to be addressed by Brady, as their stagnation has left them fearing relegation from the Premier League.

Even as their form continues to improve under Nuno Espirito Santo, Brady’s relationship with the fans is untenable, and moaning about injustices that don’t relate to her won’t exactly appease the supporters.
