West Ham chances of signing Anthony Martial is complicated
The Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas has suggested that Anthony Martial would be a “fantastic signing” for West Ham in January.
The Manchester United forward has struggled for regular games this season, and he is reportedly angling a move away [ESPN] from the club.
The Hammers were linked with signing Martial in the summer [Daily Star] but any potential deal for him is highly complicated.

He wrote for The Athletic:
“On paper, this would be a fantastic signing but the reality is West Ham would be priced out of any move because of Martial’s salary.”
Very difficult
Martial would be a gamble signing for the club, and his wages are a big hindrance.
The French striker is on around £240,000 per week at Old Trafford, while he prefers a move to Spain.
West Ham are desperate to sign a forward in January as they want to add depth in their forward region.

Martial is a versatile forward who can play as a winger (mainly from the left) as also as a striker.
He has worked previously under David Moyes, and it remains to be seen whether the Hammers will make a move for him in January.
However, sentiments aside, Martial has only scored eight club goals since the start of last season.
While we can get carried away by his flashes of brilliance, the output doesn’t provide confidence. There are better options elsewhere.
