West Ham can locate the perfect defensive partner for Nayef Aguerd in Axel Disasi
West Ham have been hot on the trail of AS Monaco’s French defender Axel Disasi and he could form the perfect defensive partnership with Nayef Aguerd next season.
West Ham legend and sporting director Mark Noble was previously spotted [11 February] attending the Ligue 1 clash between Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday evening.
With plans now in progress for the summer, according to GFFN [11 February], Noble was in attendance for one of the biggest games in the division to scout players for next season but it was unclear who he was watching from the stands.
According to Hammers insider ExWHUemployee, the recently appointed transfer chief was in attendance to scout Disasi. He said [The West Ham Way podcast, 14 February]:
“Mark Noble was a guest at the Monaco-PSG game.
“He does know Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell there, was invited as a result of [the relationship between] him and the Monaco sort of hierarchy.

“That was to get to know the role of sporting director, but also as a way of establishing strong links between us and Monaco. With the potential signing of Disasi – a French centre-back that we were looking at previously – and he could be one that we’d look to sign.”
The East Londoners have previously been linked with the French defender before, with the Daily Mail [5 January] reporting that Manchester United, Tottenham and West Ham are the Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the player, with the 24-year-old expected to leave the Stade Louis this summer.
The 24-year-old has undergone a tremendous upward trajectory at the Ligue 1 giants having already made almost 200 club appearances for both Stade Reims and Monaco.
Disasi was also rewarded with an international debut for France at the World Cup in Qatar, coming on as a substitute against Tunisia and going on to feature in three games for Didier Deschamps’ beaten finalists.
With his future up in the air in France, the player is the sort of defender West Ham should be courting considering his stark potential and superb defensive attributes. The defensive rock has also chipped in with four goals this season, including a stunning last-minute Europa League playoff winner against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday [16 February].
The Hammers are known for possessing goalscoring centre-backs in the past and Disasi could fit in perfectly at the London Stadium and become a household favourite instantly. Also, the club will be undergoing a stark rebuild in defence next summer.
Having sold Craig Dawson to Wolves, and Angelo Ogbonna’s immediate future up in the air, the Hammers could form the most enticing and destructive partnership involving Disasi and Moroccan defender Aguerd next season.
It is a match made in heaven for West Ham and David Moyes.
