West Ham: ‘Brilliant’ Lucas Paqueta wows pundit in England v Brazil, ‘wonderful imagination’

West Ham ace Lucas Paqueta wowed Rob Green with a piece of “wonderful imagination” during England v Brazil at Wembley.

The Hammers ace was perhaps lucky to stay on the pitch after making a series of fouls but he did show glimpses of his exceptional talent too.

One pass into the area during the first half really caught the attention of former Hammers keeper now pundit Green, who was speaking on co-commentary for Channel 4’s coverage of the fixture.

“Brilliant from Paqueta wasn’t it?” He said.

“It was tight again, Vinicius Jr coming inside allowing Rodrygo to come and turn and face play rather than with his back to goal. Wonderful imagination from Paqueta.”

West Ham ace Lucas Paqueta booed off in England v Brazil at Wembley

The England fans were not too happy with Paqueta at Wembley and made their voices heard with boos when he was replaced in the second half.

The attacking midfielder had committed a fair few questionable tackles and you have to believe that, were this a competitive fixture, he would have been sent off.

However, that’s not to say that Paqueta didn’t have his typical moments of brilliance that Hammers supporters have become accustomed to, and this pass that Green highlighted was just standard for the 26-year-old.

He also hit the post with an effort that left Jordan Pickford stranded but also one that Paqueta will really feel he ought to have scored on a mixed night for him at Wembley.

West Ham supporters will have been happy to see him taken off late in the second period, though, they won’t want him sidelined for any period of the remainder of the club season.
