West Ham boss Moyes has a good relationship with Nat Phillips’ dad, yet to make final decision

West Ham boss David Moyes maintains a good relationship with Nat Phillips’ father Jimmy Phillips, according to ExWHUemployee.

The reliable Hammers insider claimed on the West Ham Way Patreon last night (at 10:06 pm, 18 January) that the Irons are yet to decide whether to push through with a deal for the Liverpool centre-back before the end of the January transfer window.

The London Stadium outfit are not the only ones keen on Phillips, 24, with Newcastle United and Aston Villa also interested in recruiting his services.

Advantage?

Could the Hammers pip competition to the signature of the former Bolton Wanderers defender due to the relationship between their manager and his dad?

It would be normal to assume so, but football does not work that way, and Phillips will be keen to make a decision that is best for his career.

Despite the links, it appears that West Ham are taking their time before making an official approach for him.

With Kurt Zouma set to return, Moyes could see no need to bring in another centre-back as Issa Diop and Craig Dawson remain options too.

Nevertheless, landing Phillips could do the Irons loads of good.

While he is yet to play in the Premier League in 2021-22 and is fourth or fifth choice in the position at Anfield, he has put in some top performances in the Champions League and League Cup.

He proved his quality last term, helping Liverpool finish in the top-four after injuries kept three of their defenders out, and he surely can establish himself in the Hammers starting XI should a move to London work out.
