West Ham boss focusses on positives from Kurt Zouma’s cat saga

West Ham boss David Moyes has tried to focus on the positives as the Kurt Zouma cat saga continues.

The Scot expressed his upset with the Frenchman by saying there is no one more disappointed with the 27-year-old than himself.

However, Moyes was quick to try and put a positive spin on the situation, hoping that animal charities will benefit from this.

“I’d say right away is that we’re completely upset by it at the well. There’s nobody more disappointed than me or the club itself.” He said in his pre-Leicester City press conference.

“We’re really sorry we’ve upset West Ham supporters. For the West Ham supporters disappointed by it, I’ve got to say we’re really disappointed by it as well.

“We’re making sure animal charities will benefit from it. It’s a terrible situation, nobody’s hiding it, but we are trying to make some good come from bad.”

Typical

As expected, the Hammers’ crisis public relations team have been working long and hard to put a positive spin on a completely negative situation.

I’m sure the RSPCA as well all of the other respective animal protection charities would prefer such a high-profile role model not to have abused a cat. There are very few to no positives that spring to mind from this situation.

It’s hard not to be angry with Moyes himself but it is the club who need to take responsibility for this shamble.

Unfortunately, the Scot is the one in the firing line having started the centre-back against Watford and being expected to do the same against Leicester on the weekend, but the onus needs to be on those higher up.

West Ham have put in so much community work throughout the past few years, especially during the pandemic, and this situation has completely tarnished the club’s reputation.

It is hardly surprising in an industry where money comes before everything else.
