West Ham boss David Moyes urges Michail Antonio for more

David Moyes has called for more from “more than capable” West Ham ace Michail Antonio.

The Hammers striker has been out of form in front of goal of late but the Scot hopes he can kick on having scored against Southampton last time out.

He said in his pre-Tottenham Hotspur press conference: “Mich is more than capable of playing the games.

“We need him. He’s an important member of our squad. We are mindful that we do try to give him some time off when we can, so we’ve tried to prepare him the best we can.

“He got a goal the other night and I hope he starts going on a really good run now.”

Go time

The work that Antonio has put in for West Ham this season has been excellent. He has been one of the team’s best performers and without him, they definitely wouldn’t be pushing for top four.

What makes it even more impressive is that at 31-years-old, the attacker has held down the striker role all by himself, all season long.

He has had little dips in form throughout the season but his tally of 19 goal involvements across all competitions is brilliant.

Moyes is right though. The Hammers could really do with the Jamaican rediscovering his form during the final push of this season.

The Irons still have a massive couple of months ahead of them in terms of the Premier and Europa League respectively and will need all hands-on deck.

Antonio, like he has done all season long, must run himself into the ground over the next couple of months as West Ham enter the most crucial stage of this amazing season.

He has put in too much hard work for it to go to waste now.
