West Ham boss David Moyes confirms Arthur Masuaku a doubt v Leicester

David Moyes has confirmed that West Ham left-back Arthur Masuaku is a doubt for the Hammers trip to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City tomorrow (February 13).

The DR Congo international has suffered a knee injury and could need surgery due to a ‘floating bone’ in the area.

The Hammers are proceeding with caution before putting the defender under the knife.

“We were not sure whether he was going to need an operation. We’re going to see if we can get through with an injection at the moment and see how it goes,” Moyes said as per Football.London.

“He’s got a bit of floating bone in his knee which we’re managing so we’ll have to find out how he goes in the coming weeks and how he is.”

Just our luck

West Ham suffer with injuries year after year, but it has never felt this bad. That could be largely to do with their standing in the table and what Is at stake for the club.

Despite not playing an awful lot thanks to the form of Aaron Cresswell, Masuaku will be missed if he has to spend a lengthy spell on the side-lines.

He was a decent back up that Moyes now can’t rely on, leaving the burden largely on Creswell, the only other recognised left back.

If worse comes to worst, the Irons could shift a right back out to the left as seen on a few occasions this season but that is far from ideal.

It will be something that is spoken about until the end of the season and probably beyond depending on how the summer window goes but a scenario like this is exactly why additions to the squad were so crucial in January.

Let’s hope for a quick and full recovery from the defender so he can come back and help his teammates.
