West Ham beat Manchester United to new Steidten appointment with done deal soon

West Ham United are on the verge of sealing a deal for Tim Steidten to become their new technical director, according to Sky Sports journalist, Florian Plettenberg.

It’s believed the decision was made over the last couple of days as the Hammers close in on their replacement for Mark Noble (Florian Plettenberg, Twitter, 21 June).

The final details are set to be ironed out next week with Manchester United also holding talks with the former Bayer Leverkusen chief.

“Tim Steidten is on the verge to join West Ham as their new Technical Director. The decision was made in the last few days as there were also talks with ManUtd,” wrote the Sky Sports journalist.

“West Ham made the race now confirmed! It’s a long-term project. The last final details will be clarified next week. Done Deal soon.”

Impressive

This is such an impressive appointment for the Hammers.

The German comes to the London Stadium with a fairly impressive CV.

A footballing structure is desperately required at the London Stadium. The board just about got away with their spending during the last transfer window, with the likes of Lucas Paqueta coming good towards the end of the 2022/23 season.

Smarting decision-making is required and hopefully, the former Bayer Leverkusen chief will bring that. It’s important this appointment is signed sealed and delivered fairly soon.

West Ham

The summer transfer window is now in full swing and it’s absolutely vital the impending Declan Rice fee is spent wisely.

Steidten could have a significant transfer kitty to play with when he does eventually take up his role at the London Stadium.

A new striker, at least two midfielders and a winger have to be on the agenda heading into the transfer window. After last year’s disappointing Premier League campaign, an improvement is expected from the board and the fanbase.
