West Ham backed to hire Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers amid Lopetegui sack news
Darren Bent has backed West Ham to hire Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers after the latest Julen Lopetegui sack update.
Fabrizio Romano has reported via his Daily Briefing (3 November) that the Spaniard is under heavy scrutiny at the London Stadium with the defeat against Nottingham Forest potentially the final straw.
This has sparked conversations of potential replacements for the Hammers with Bent suggesting the ex-Leicester City boss live on talkSPORT (5 November).
He said: Brendan Rogers, I’m telling you now, he could be the one. He plays some nice football. He’s going to win the league again up in Scotland.”
West Ham backed to hire Brendan Rodgers after Julen Lopetegui sack update
The ex-Real Madrid boss just hasn’t had the best time of things since taking over from David Moyes in East London.
This has seen his side win just three games while suffering damaging defeats against Tottenham and at the City Ground on Saturday (2 November).
Fans aren’t particularly pleased with the performances under Lopetegui and the results are just representative of this.
As a result, supporters and pundits are considering new options for manager at the London Stadium with Edin Terzic also mooted as a potential option.
Rodgers could prove to be a shrewd appointment, whether or not fans would be left underwhelmed is another question.

The Celtic boss has had great success across his career at different levels of teams. Nearly winning the Premier League with Liverpool, winning the FA Cup with Leicester City while securing three Scottish Premierships across two spells.
It could prove to be a positive replacement of Lopetegui and stabilise the club after a torrid time at the start of the season.
